All works left by Samkelo Mangisa are available for sale. The proceeds of the sale will go to Samkelo's grandmother, his beneficiary, to be used for the support and welfare of his family and baby daughter.

Remembring Samkelo Mangisa

It is with sadness that we announce the death of one of our workshop and resident artists, Samkelo Mangisa, who passed away on Saturday the 21st of August. Samkelo Mangisa born 30th of May 1985 died tragically in a car accident on Saturday the 21st of August 2010 at the age of 25.
He participated in our mentoring workshop in April at Good Hope Art. Ever since then he was a part of the residency space.
The Castle management kindly agreed to allow us to have a Remembrance Service at the studios on Monday the 30th of August. We invited everyone who knew him to join us for this time of remembering him. People brought some thoughts and words of how he impacted them. We made a corner of remembrance with his work where people could write a note or make a mark on a canvas in remembrance of Samkelo.
Some of the artists made a cash contribution that was given to his family to assist them with the funeral arrangements.

The Funeral took place in the Eastern Cape on Saturday the 4th of September 2010.
